These are better than others I have used, not so powdery as others, slightly firmer with a lot less waste.

the birds go mad for this but I found it very unstable. it crumbles too easily, does on hold shape and coated the bird table in a greasy quagmire.I would not recommend it.

Good product, looks good quality,nice colour (pink) not crumbly, so easy to pour in feeder. I use a jug for ease & put feeder in a bag to catch any spillage. The birds love it. They can eat a feeder worth in about 3days! Lovely to watch the starlings etc eating these. Came in a plastic bag inside a compact cardboard box. Great grub for finickity felines
We were starting to despair when our elderly cat became very fussy about what she would eat. For years she was very happy to eat Felix and Whiskas, but then suddenly went off both brands and all varieties. She would just lick the gravy or jelly off and leave all the meat -- so roughly three-quarters of each pack was wasted, and she was not getting any kind of balanced meal.
We then tried Perle Gourmet and were delighted with the results -- the cat loves all the varieties and her appetite has returned. There's hardly any wastage, so even though this brand of food often retails for more in the supermarket than the mainstream types, it works out cheaper. And we have been able to buy in bulk at discount prices and be reasonably certain that it'll all be eaten -- result all round.

Very Good Cat Food
My cats love this. I was giving them a different wet pouch food but they became tired of it so I bought this one and they love it. I looks like real peices of meat, or fish and smells nice so you feel you are giving them something good. It contains all the necessery ingredients to keep your cat healthy but I also give them dry cat food Royal Canin which is al very good.

Hozelock Pond Air Pump 640: 1805

Pond air pump
Bought to replace an old air pump which was underpowered and had stopped working.
Initial reaction was that it was a well designed piece of kit, easy to install and control air flow.
Unfortunately pump stopped operating after 24hrs and would then only work at maximum output which was too much for the pond.
Using a lower setting was either not possible or if it was it then stopped running after a short while.
Pump returned to supplier who replaced by return (new pump received in three days from sending the old one).
New pump has now been working well for a week with no problems.
Original appears therefore to have been a rogue unit as I have several other Hozelock items which have given excellent service over many years.
Excellent speedy service from Aquatics2u.
Mixed experience
April 2013: Have just got this to replace a previous cheapish two stone pump that only lasted just over a year. It's immediately obvious that this one is much superior build quality and it's so much quieter than the old one. The fact that it's weatherproof (many aren't) is an additional advantage. The air stones it comes with are weedy (c.25mm/1 inch) though and aren't heavy enough to sink with the buoyancy of the plastic air tube. This product is great, I love it! It works perfectly, it really removes lots of hair, and my bunny didn't even seem to notice I was brushing him... His fur is much softer now and I only used it for like a minute or two.

I have a bird and this product was prescribed by my vet a year or so ago to avoid deficiences. The product is good value and lasts for ages depending upon the size of what you are treating. As I only have to add a single drop to water every few days, the shelf life will most probably expire before I run out.
Easy to use
This product was an easy way of targetting one hen to make sure that she had more calcium without upsetting the balance for the other hens in the flock. I cannot say if it worked as the poor hen in question now seems to have larger issues than just laying soft-shelled eggs. However I would be confident to use it in a similar situation in the future.

I ordered this product because my zebra finches lay eggs like there's no tomorrow and I was worried about them getting egg bound. This would save their life if that happens. Very quick delivery and I am very pleased with it.

Wild bird seed mix popular in my patch!
Used this seed mix for several months now and the garden has a huge variety of birds visiting. I also use fat balls and nyger seed, and put out apples and stale bread. This combination works for all the different birds, including a jackdaw with one leg - I hide food in places only he looks! And most surprisingly, a magpie with one wing - he hops about and hides under the bushes and can perch on low shrubs. Both the injured birds seem healthy apart from their missing bits and to catch and check them would I think only add insult to injury. We have a baby hare in the garden too who loves the larger seeds.

So I give this product a thumbs up. As for those who find the birds eating habits messy and are bothered by the seedlings, perhaps wild gardening isn't for you. Nature just isn't tidy! Let some of the plants mature - you never know what might come up! Goldfinches love the seedheads of some of the naturally sown plants, and some of them are quite attractive! Bonus!

Gardman Feeding Station Tree

Avoid. Bird got caught in feeding station.
I was impressed with this feeder until this afternoon. I heard a bird flapping when I was outside and I found a young goldfinch hanging by a twisted and bleeding foot. The foot had got caught inbetween two of the branches. I released the bird and it flew away. Whether it will be OK I do not know.
I bought the feeder to help birds. not to trap them in this way. Looking at this feeder there seem to be a few places for birds' feet to get caught. I will let Gardman know and I will be interested in their response.
Multi space bird feeder.
After initially being sent the wrong item, I was pleasantly suprised at the speed in which the mistake was rectified. Top Marks to the supplier. The Multi feeder bird station is more like a metal tree, which stands nearly 2.5mtrs tall when erected. It was simple to assemble and to fix into the ground. It has plenty of hook spaces for upto 8 feeders, and several branches for birds to perch. I feel it is best to position it close to cover (near trees or shrubs), and away from predators like cats. If put out into the middle of the garden, birds are open to predation from birds of prey, because it really does fill up with birds, and sometimes there are surprise rare visitors to the feeder. All in all a great piece of garden kit. Warmly welcomed by the birds that congregate to it, and fascinating as an observer. Would highly recommend this feeder for even the most modest of gardens, as it really fits the bill (no pun intended), when it comes to looking after our treasured feathered friends.
Very good feeder with lots of feeder space
I have to disagree with the poor comments on this feeder. Having had the standard type feeder until now I have to say that the previous one (4 feeding points are right angles to each other with feeder trays coming off the main post) was far easier for squirrels to get onto than this one. There is plenty of height on the feeder to place the food attractive to the squirrels (peanuts) higher up so they can't jump up onto them. We had problems with squirrels on our last one and so far only one has managed to find a way to climb up it and perch on the sloping arms of the new one so I think it is far better than the usual feeding stations where the squirrels can just stand on the feeding trays and reach up to the feeders themselves. Also, I have had no problems with birds getting their feet trapped (or the squirrels for that matter), surely birds are adept at being in proper trees with similar gaps where the branches come together. I've certainly not had any problems and don't see that...

Habitrail Ovo Loft - Large Hamster Cage System

Amazing cage.
I got this cage as a surprise from my parents.I have loved it ever since.I love it because it keeps my hamster safe and I love the fact you can add things on.My only problem is the water bottle which leaks,but is simply sorted out by wiping it out after putting it in.So I totally recommend this cage.

I got this cage about a week ago and I love it. I added it on to the other Habitrail cage that I had to give my hamster more room and she loves it and uses it as her play area. What I really love about this cage is that I can always see where my hamster is and what she is doing and that I can keep adding to it. I would definately buy this cage again if I was to have more hamsters or other small animals. It works really well and is so easy to clean and provides my hamster with loads of space.

I was a bit apprehensive about getting this cage after reading some bad reviews - particularly the ones saying their hamsters chewed through the plastic and escaped - My hamsters first cage was a small metal barred one and he hated it, he constantly chewed at the bars trying to escape. He loves the Habitrail - he does not chew anymore and theres lots of add ons for him to explore. I think the habitrial loft is much better than the ovo - the ovo looks tiny and the loft is a good size particularly with the add ons. For anyone not sure i'd say get it - i did and i couldnt be happier.

Doors open really easily
My son chose this cage because it looked good and he thought it looked like it would be fun for his first hamster. After reading prev reviews was a bit worried it would be difficult to build but its actually fairly easy to put together apart from the tubes which take a bit of patience. The cage can be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned and, once you have built it once and know what your doing, easy to put back together. The plastic is quite robust too. However, from the start the doors were very loose so tried to tighten with pliers and fastened with bulldog clips and other things and thought we had it cracked, unfortunately not. Five weeks in we've got one missing hamster and one v. unhappy little boy. Door design for hamsters is obviously hugely important but the ones on this cage are useless. Also the wheels wouldn't be big enough for a fully grown syrian hamster and I was looking for a replacement wheel. No point now though :(

Innotek Spray Commander Remote Spray Trainer, 85 m

A good value, bad habit deterent
Having had labradors for many years we were struggling to stop Henry, our 4 year old, eating dog poo when out walking in our local forest. Actually, replace the word 'dog' with deer, rabbit, cat, rotting dead animals!! He suffered badly with a bout of pancreatitis and was on a drip for two days. Luckily he survived but all my training skills could not stop this bad habit. I was reluctant to use a muzzle and believe my dogs should be able to run free when out. I was worried that this device might be cruel but the Innotek commander remote collar has helped immensely. Henry is not totally cured of his habit but I am able to stop him, from a distance, and just having the collar around his neck can lessen his urges. The spray is unscented, just a cold sensation, and has also proved to be waterproof. I am in control with the remote, this is not sound activated, and our walks are now a pleasure.
Use with caution
These collars definitely have their uses but be careful about which types of dog you use them on. I have a challenging rescue border collie who used to chase joggers and cyclists and leap up at people. He is also aggressive to other dogs and has been so since a tiny pup. I considered whether to use one of these collars for quite some time before purchasing. I must add that ever since he was 10 weeks old he has been to the same training classes as my older border collie with whom I do competition obedience and agility so I did not see this collar as a quick fix in isolation but as part of a wider training programme and only after other methods were not working! I think the collar did help with the jogger and bike chasing and with the jumping up at everyone, something which he very rarely does these days. What I realise in hindsight however is that his aggression to other dogs is totally fear based and because of this I think the collar actually made his aggression to other dogs worse,...

My 6 month cocker spaniel has never thought I was 'master' and puppy classes/out on walks would go "deaf". She would run 50 metres without turning round looking for rabbits. She also chased my free-range ducks/chickens. My dog trainer bought this round & IT'S WORKED MIRACLES. She's circling close to me on walks now responding to my calls; she even lets the ducks/chickens walk past her & doesn't jump up at them. It only took 2 sessions & about 10 squirts. Since, I've only needed to buzz occasionally.

As far as safety goes, it's brilliant as she doesn't jump at my toddlers or run off. It has also progressed the normal treats-based puppy/dog training as she now listens & is engaged with my voice.

She seems to need reassurance & love afterwards & I would recommend a trainer to help you use it - if not I'd just recommend going gently with it.

I now see a future ahead with a lovely family dog & not one that I'm laying awake at night worrying how I could...

In my opinion Cavy Cuisine is the best guinea pig food on the market. It is more expensive than other foods but I think it's worth it. The size of the pellets are also perfect for feeding to guinea pigs.

Tetra Plant Complete Substrate 5.8 Kg

Tetra plant complete substrate
I bought this for a new planted aquarium I was setting up. Tank size (60l) floor dimensions 60cm x 30cm - this was more than enough to give a good layer about 3cm deep on the base of the tank, before adding gravel on top to keep it in place.

Its too early to say how it benefits the plants, but I think I have a really good base layer under the gravel for the roots to go into. I could probably have managed with the smaller sized tub, but had wanted to err on the side of more rather than less. The plants are all healthy, but as already stated, its too early to know how much this substrate is helping.

I liked the look and feel of this product, and if setting up another planted tank would not hesitate to use again. I have no issues with dust or debris coming from this substrate layer (but it is well covered with additional gravel).

I bought this for our cat as we're going to be away for two weeks and it will enable our friend to only pop in once a day as the feeder will sort breakfast. My only issue with it is the portion size. The smallest portion is still double what she should be eating, which means I'm having to intercept to reduce the amount of food and I'm a bit concerned that when we return she'll either be obese or have been sick everywhere!

I purchased two of these heaters for my 60 gallon marine tank. Using both of the heaters the water was quickly brought up to the required temperature (set by using a dial located on the top of the heater). Heat in the water is now maintained by the heather switching on and off as required.

Very happy with the units, would have liked a plastic guard of something around the glass to prevent fish touching it, but that would also reflect in the price I am sure.

For a low cost option to aquarium heating, you get great value for money with these heaters as well as a fast delivery from the supplier.

This run is great. Lightweight, portable, sturdy and safe for small animals thanks to the cover. I've had rabbits and guinea pigs in them and they love it. Easy to move around on the grass so keeps fresh grass available all the time. Would recommend these to other people - very simple to use.

I was worried about this cage being too small for my rabbits but its a great size for them, my nephew can even sit in it with them.. as could I and I'm 20! I think it could easily take about 4 or 5 rabbits at the most.
As for other users saying they don't think its very secure, I have had no problems with it at all. The top netting is very tightly secured at each corner with added velcro in between corners for added security, the lock is also very good as it has no give and will not open slightly when leaned against. Because it is made of individual panels it can be made higher or lower at certain areas to suit slightly bumpy or slanted terrain but still watch out for rabbits digging under of course.
The only issue I have had with this is one of the nets attachment holes broke the first time I put it on and I will need to fix it and also the shaded side could do with being a bit thicker as I was using it on an extremely sunny day and have albino rabbits, I had to put a towel...
Guinea Playpen
Fantastic easy to use large playpen for our guinea pigs. Great to use indoors and out. We have used it on the lawn when the weather has permitted and also indoors with the cover over to stop the cat getting in whilst we clean out their hutch outdoors.
Very versatile can easily be shortened to a six or even four panel depending on where it's being used. Would also recommend Net Bunny as their service was fantastic, very quick delivery, item exactly as described.

My three fussy eaters manage just fine on this, even though only one of them's overweight. I just supplement the other two's diet with treats to maintain their calorie intake. Bag's a bit unweildy to pour from - I scoop into tupperware dispensers.

I ordered it on Tuesday and it arrived this morning,I ordered by the 2 day delivery, which makes it more pricey, but it was urgent as he`d nearly finished his `old` food. He`s a greedy cat, voracious, so as this new food is low in calories but high in flavour, it should sustain him for longer.

Buying turtle products is a hit-and-miss thing... or so I've found. If you're considering this product, for the first time, I'd suggest buying a much smaller pot to try them with.

i always use tetra (not king british) to feed to my turtle. its a complete food in its self,and the best iv found for keeping the water clean. my turtle is 30 + yrs old and likes this food very much. a good product at the right price with good service.

Felix Senior As Good As It Looks Meat Pouch 12 x 100 g (Pack of 4)

Not quite as good as fish variety
I can only go by cat's reaction to this food. With the fish variety she eats readily but with this type she seems to take much longer before she dives in. I'd rather have less jelly in the wet food as the jelly is not good for their teeth.

Arden Grange Adult Dog Sensitive 6 Kg

Great alternative to Orijen but very poor delivery service
I feed my dog a grain free diet and used Orijen and Taste of the Wild in the past, they are IMO the best, but they are very expensive as they are imported from Canada. My dog really loves the sensitive version though and it is good value if you subscribe.

Only downside is it is delivered by Hermes UK couriers, who have already failed to turn up with one order, and I am awaiting my latest order, which I still doubt they will deliver given their track record. There is no option to choose another courier service, which is a shame, because Hermes are terrible and Amazon are undoubtedly losing business because of the poor service Hermes provide (or rather, don't provide). Hermes can take weeks to deliver items and sometimes don't deliver at all, but claim they have attempted delivery. I work from home and the dog always barks when anyone approaches the door, so I can tell they never even turned up..

I would pay extra NOT to have Hermes, I wish Amazon would start...

I bought this item for my guinea pig and it is very adequate for its intended use. I have left the pen out in the rain and it has not rusted (but have now started to store it indoors) plenty of room for one guinea pig to run around in however the over net can be a bit tricky to secure tightly but overall very pleased with the product and its price
Pretty Good
This product is great. My rabbit really enjoys spending time outside of his hutch and this run is perfect. I was a little worried that the run wouldn't be big enough for my rabbit, but its just right. He has plenty of room to have a little run and jump around.

I love the fact that the run is so portable. It takes only a few minutes to put up when you know how. It doesn't come with instructions but it is fairly simple figure out. The net was quite hard to put on. I couldn't work out how it fit. After about 15 minutes i managed to get it about right. It didn't quite fit so i just put some pegs around the outside to make sure there were no gaps.

I do have another problem with the net. My rabbit has stared chewing it. He has managed to chew a hole big enough to put his head through, and although i am fairly confident he won't be able to jump out, i really don't want to risk it. So my dad got some wire to put over the top which is doing a pretty good job instead of...

After 3 previous attempts with various manufacturers and suppliers I can confirm that this pump is totally silent - unless you put your ears within about 5mm of it!!!

Although not cheap, this pump is worth every penny. So quiet, only sound is the air bubbles popping. Well recommended, if I ever need another one, will buy same again.

A quality and sturdy travel crate
After opening and quickly assembling I was instantly impressed with the size of the crate. The quality of the materials and the structure were plain to see. It was a nice bonus to discover a faux sheepskin lining the bottom. This will last our pup his lifetime. Would highly recommend.
boxers home!
At first I thought it might be too small for the 6yr old boxer I was adopting even though I went for the xl size. it was easy to fold up and put down but my new boxer at first wouldn't go in it but after a week with the sides and top open he gradually began to get in it and now I can't get him out. I use it more as a bed than a travel cage. it would be far to heavy to carry a large dog in it but with a smaller dog this size carrier is ideal for it to have some room to play inside with the sides and top shut. its great if your going to stay over or camp with your dog as it folds up flat and he has the bed he is use to. Big enough, strong enough and compact for my dogs need.

Warning cuts through the dogs hair like a hot knife through butter so be careful or you will have a bald Dog very quickly. The fully charged unit will run out of power within 30 minutes but you can finish your dogs off with the mains supply if you have to.

Casper Clipping???
I was dubious about ordering after reading some reviews, however I took a chance and ordered. Now used it twice on Casper my Springer Spaniel and although I am still nervous about clipping him the Clippers are terrific. One review said that the battery ran out before they were finished, were they clipping a horse?. I have never tried to groom a dog before, my dog is nearly 5 years and does not like loud noises, but as these clippers are quiet and easy to use I had no problems. Long term I hope they last but short term experience I would recommend them to anyone.I am a "hopefully" young 69 year old.

Interpet Fish Pod 64

Ours is old......still going strong
Well we have had our Fish Pod 64 for longer than i can recall now, and everything is almost as it was when we bought it, the deltatherm heater is still keeping the temperature nice and static, the PF filter is still quiet, hasnt slipped from its suckers and we have barely ever cleaned it (yes i know we should have done before anyone says anything ha ha). We only have 2 goldfish in this particular one, but do have another downstairs for marine fish and the same marks also apply to that.

To conclude, a complete package, which lasts for ages, lets me see our fish from almost any angle in the room, and almost low maintenence, what more could i have asked for in an aquarium?
Interpet Fish Pod 64 Litre Tropical Fish Tank
I purchased this tank as a package with a flat pack stand, re. just the tank, the description is slightly misleading in that the filter is not "built in", it is a Interpet PF2 internal filter. The Heater/Thermostat is a conventional glass tube type. The plus points are:
no corner frame on the two front corners (glass is curved around front and sides)
ready to set up (aside from gravel, plants etc)
more stylish than many other tanks
Integral lights (1 daylight and 1 blue night light)

Downsides (some specific to me)
The interpet heater/thermostat has condensation in it (will be replacing under warranty)
Lid hinge needs a fair amount of clearance if you want to totally open the lid, rather than just open the feeding flap
The plastic floor of the tank was slightly warped, rather than replace the tank I purchased a foam mat and cut it to size to fully support the base (otherwise you risk a leak)
Replacement lamps are expensive (just search...

Harringtons Optimum Guinea Pig 10 Kg

our guineapigs love this stuff.
we feed our guinea pigs twice a day and they love this stuff.

Our guineapigs were quite fussy on musli, would turf out the things they didn't like.

We switched to this and they still eat the whole bowl full.

Its also saving us money in the long run. Because there eating all of it. (i would not scrimp on my animals either.)We have Seven Guinea-pigs.

GREAT FOR LITTLE AND BIG PIGGIES
WE have 12 fussy piggies and have had trouble finding nuggets that they will eat. As soon as we gave them these they gobbled them up in no time. Great size as well. Nuggets not big so no fear of choking like some we have seen. Great for your piggies big and small.

Perfect for me African Pygmy Hedgehog
I got this cage for my African Pygmy hedgehog at the suggestion of other owners. It's the perfect size for her and she loves it. It fits all her things in perfectly and provides her with ventilation.
Ok for one guinea pig, great for dwarf hamsters or syrian hamsters
This cage is ok for one single guinea pig but even with this size cage a pig should be given a run to exercise in as this is too small for that (a large folding doggy pen/rabbit run on the floor while you're in the house would be perfect)it also is poorly ventilated so its not even ideal for a guinea pig, a barred cage can be bought cheaper. This not for rabbits under any circumstances, a rabbit should be able to stand on its hind legs easily and stretch this wont allow for that.

This cage would be perfect for for a pair of dwarf hamsters, they would love it in here as the cage would give them loads of space! A syrian hamster would love this cage too, though for a syrian put some finer mesh over the lid or they will climb out! I own two of these and a lone dwarf in one and a syrian in the other.

Wafcol Salmon and Potato Dry Food for Adult Large/Giant Dog 12 kg

Izzy a labrador retriever suffers from an allergy problem that results in her scratching until she bleeds and licking and chewing until the fur is worn away.. Our vet recommended she switch to wafcol. Feeding her this along with medicines prescribed by the vet has made an enormous difference to her. She would throughly recommend the food to similar sufferers, she consumes two portions a day with obvious enjoyment - personally I haven't tried it!

Why I chose this hutch:

- My rabbits are very bouncy, curious, and prefer to interact with people and see what's going on rather than to be shut away.

- The sleeping area is small and cosy (which rabbits prefer) with a lift-up roof so it's easy to clean (which I prefer!!)

Digital Thermometer + Hygrometer Combined with Remote Probes

Delighted
When it first arrived it was a few degrees different to a known good themometer and took a surprisingly long time to come to its senses and display the correct figure, - but it did and seems to be very accurate.

The hygrometer measurement is also accurate.

(Both of these comparisons were at mid range values only, so untested at extremes)

There is an internal and external temperature probe, but one one hygrometer sensor - and that is external.

Simple to use, (just press and hold max min button to reset max min records) and has a button to toggle between fahrenheit and centigrade.

Uses an AAA battery which I presume will be longer lasting and cheaper to run compared with many of these devices that take a button cell.

Just what was wanted - an easy to fit circulation pump for my 120 litre Juwel marine tank. I wanted a pump that was not too strong, all others I had tried kept upsetting my cynarinas even though the jet was not on them directly. This provides a good flow and is easy to direct. The pump is also quiet and easily removed for cleaning as it is held on by a magnet on the other side of the glass.

Mistmaker Fogger Mister with 6 LEDs

Got this little item today, must say it was very fast delivery and couldn't wait to get it working. Packaging had taken a battering in the post but the item was ok. No instructions included but to be honest it does not take a great deal to work it out. Submerge in water so that the centre plate is covered, plug it in and watch as the mist appears and the LED's make the effect work. Very nice affordable item.
