Hozelock Pond Air Pump 640: 1805

Pond air pump
Bought to replace an old air pump which was underpowered and had stopped working.
Initial reaction was that it was a well designed piece of kit, easy to install and control air flow.
Unfortunately pump stopped operating after 24hrs and would then only work at maximum output which was too much for the pond.
Using a lower setting was either not possible or if it was it then stopped running after a short while.
Pump returned to supplier who replaced by return (new pump received in three days from sending the old one).
New pump has now been working well for a week with no problems.
Original appears therefore to have been a rogue unit as I have several other Hozelock items which have given excellent service over many years.
Excellent speedy service from Aquatics2u.
Mixed experience
April 2013: Have just got this to replace a previous cheapish two stone pump that only lasted just over a year. It's immediately obvious that this one is much superior build quality and it's so much quieter than the old one. The fact that it's weatherproof (many aren't) is an additional advantage. The air stones it comes with are weedy (c.25mm/1 inch) though and aren't heavy enough to sink with the buoyancy of the plastic air tube. I've immediately replaced them with 50mm ones recently bought in a pack of 6 for

At last, a silent air pump!
After 3 previous attempts with various manufacturers and suppliers I can confirm that this pump is totally silent - unless you put your ears within about 5mm of it!!!

New air pump for my tank
Although not cheap, this pump is worth every penny. So quiet, only sound is the air bubbles popping. Well recommended, if I ever need another one, will buy same again.
Very very quiet pump.
Our BioOrb pumps have always been very loud. This replacement is almost silent, even if it is standing on its rubber feet. My mother has one suspended and it is silent.

Hydor Koralia Nano 900 Circulation and Wave Pump

Just what was wanted - an easy to fit circulation pump for my 120 litre Juwel marine tank. I wanted a pump that was not too strong, all others I had tried kept upsetting my cynarinas even though the jet was not on them directly. This provides a good flow and is easy to direct. The pump is also quiet and easily removed for cleaning as it is held on by a magnet on the other side of the glass.
Fluval Edge 46L Koralia Nano review
I bought this for my Fluval Edge 46L marine set up and it is perfect. Good value can recommend. Remeber this is designed for nano tanks.
Great little thing
Very good little power head, you just have to make sure ALL the air is out of it. I had to diassemble mine and reassemble under water to stop rattling noises. now runs silently though.

I wanted to give this filter 2 stars, this is because the instructions are waist of time it took me 1hr 30mins or so to figure out what part goes where as I wanted to follow the instructions, who ever wrote these instructions should keep their day job, anyway my friend came over and looked at the instructions and just simply bin it and within 10 mins he put the filter in the aquarium and pumping water, as simple as that, that’s if you do not follow the instructions.
The pump works just perfect as matter of fact it is brilliant, just the instructions that let it down.

I have seen a few bad reviews about this item on other sites, saying that it was as noisy as the one they replaced? Very strange, that this one is only not more powerful than the old one, all I can hear is the huge amount of air bubbles coming to the top. I have ordered a long air stone, as I am upgrading the size of my, tank Well done Tetra. As for the other one (Which sounded like a bildge pump on the back of a canal boat), I'll use it for preparing my new tank on saturday.

Contacted seller who said he would check on it, but I heard no more. I got tired of waiting for this item as we wanted to use our water feature so purchased a pump locally. That would seem to be the safest course of action in the future. Disappointed.

Slightly disappointed
I bought this for a small outdoor water feature and was very careful to read the description carefully to make sure it could be used outdoors. However, when it arrived and I read the instructions it clearly stated it was 'for indoor use only'.
But it was quite inexpensive so I decided to use it anyway and it works great in my outdoor fountain. Just a bit disappointed that they didn't make it clear it was for indoor use in the advert.

Tetra APS300 Air Pump

Quiet, powerful, energy efficiant.
As usual tetra tec pump is a winner for me again, quiet, powerful, energy efficiant & reliable.
In the box is 2 flow regulators & a tee for combining the 2 outputs into 1 line, good length power cord unlike some compeditors, reaches my 4 way no probs.

I've got my new APS300 placed on top of a small bookcase beside the tank, yeah you can hear it but it's much quieter than it's predecessor!

I've bought tetra APS pumps before & never had any bother with them, one of the best on the market.
Not exactly silent...
Amazon advert says 'extremely quiet', big letters on the front of the box says 'silent aquarium air pump', smaller wording further down says 'extremely quiet and powerful' and then finally in very small wording on the side of the box it says '... innovative design reduces noise'

Turn it on and it's not exactly silent or even quiet, for that matter. It is, however, a very good pump, and, if you can get over the noise, you'll love it!

Hozelock Pond Air Pump 320: 1800

Just right for the job
I bought this as a replacement for two mini pumps that I had coupled together to act as a fish saver in winter when the pond (10ft x 8ft x 2ft, 4500 litres) freezes over. They were barely enough to keep a layer of air under the ice. Then the waterfall pump failed, a major task to replace so I had to increase aeration PDQ and this little beauty does the job very well. It comes with two air-stones and a long length of hose and the fish seem to be content. And so is the lady fishkeeper which is even more important. The pump is adjustable and very quiet (unlike the lady fishkeeper)
GOOD FOR AQUARIUMS TOO ! ! !
I bought this because my rena air 600 recently gave up as they seem to do after 18 months or so, I also wanted to try something that can pump to more depth as my 8 foot tank is just over 2 feet deep and most pumps seem not to like this sort of depth.
I have already tried the Blagdon (far too noisy) so when I saw a recent review on this and the super price on Amazon I decided to PUMP for it !

I can tell you that I am absolutely DELIGHTED with the result !
Not quite as quiet as the Rena air but when you turn it down it is very close and it is SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL !!!

I would recommend this pump without hesitation it is fully pumping 2 2" air stones from the bottom of my tank where I tried an Eheim 400 that could NOT handle them and even the Rena air 600 when good could not match the power OR price of the Hozelock pond air 320!

Cons: you DO have to fit your own power plug so if you are not up to the job it may not be for you.

Iam on my second of these pump, they are very good but not completely water tight. The first one failed after 2 weeks when I looked inside it
there was a lot of rain water, but I like the pump as the supplier had not got another one I got my money back, & ordered one from Amazon (which was cheaper).
This time I have put a cover over the pump to keep the rain off, so far it been OK. The only place I can see that rain may be geeting in is around the ajusting knob.

I found the product very good at fitering and water circulation.
But just a few modifications would make this an excellent product.
I cut part of the filter body in order to make the flow directional.
The mounting suckers should be on a seperate holder to enable ease of
removal from tank. Two simple changes is all it requires to do this.

Bradshaws Solar Oxygenator, Solar Air Pump

Bubbles on a bright day!
I don't switch my main pond pump and UV filter on when the frogs are doing their 'spring thing', which means that the water tends to become somewhat discoloured and stagnant for a while. So I purchased this as a means of aerating the pond in the meantime. Out of the package, the device is smaller than anticipated, but appears well made and is simple to set up. It is essential to position the solar panel where it will receive full sunlight, as the motor will only operate when the sun is unobstructed by cloud. The ensuing stream of bubbles is not spectacular, but is sufficient for the purpose that I intended. I would consider the device more suitable for a small pond. I also found it useful to attach a length of garden wire along the tube to the airstone in order to submerge it more deeply. So, in a nutshell, a useful little device if you accept its limitations.
Pond oxygenator
I have a very small pond (6'x 1.5' maximum dimensions) and this product is totally suitable, if not too energetic.

Very easy to install and works excellently and being solar powered has no running costs.

Perfect for a smallish pond (including those bigger than mine). If you have a large pond you'd most likely want one with two air vents.

I bought this Solar Oxygenator from Bradshaws via Amazon to increase the air content of our pond in the summer months, in addition to an existing mains powered pond pump & filter.

The product arrived promptly from Bradshaws and is very simple to set up. The solar panel seems quite sturdy and comes with a ground spike to push into the soil. Then you just push the tubes onto the small blue air pump and the air-stone to go into the pond.

Of course the device won't work in shade or on a dull day, but on a bright, (but still cloudy) day a small stream of bubbles start to rise to the surface. Then as the panel is exposed to full sun, the stream of bubbles increase enough to disrupt the surface of the pond by at least 12 inches in diameter and sends surface bubbles several feet across the pond.

For best results and in this recent hot weather I've been turning the panel to catch more sun in the afternoon, so the output remains as high as possible throughout...

Good little pump, 'little' being the operative word. I wish I had bought a larger model as the water feature (for which this was purchased as a replacement pump) has a height from pump to water outlet of approximately just under 800cm which makes the flow of water of 450 ltr/hr slightly less than I had expected. Generous length of cable at 10 mts. In conclusion, this is a solid and well made little unit which I can recommend but unfortunately too small for my purpose.

I have an outdoor water feature of an old street pump which required a head of water of approximately 35cm to the spout. This pump handles that very well with a flow of approximately 1cm diameter. An excellent pump for a water feature, supplied with interchangeable connectors, one of which fits a standard garden hose.

Exo Terra Waterfall with Pump, Small

Be carefull when buying this.
I have mixed feelings about this product. (I am talking about the small waterfall, I cant speak for the medium and large.)

I bought it for my crested gecko and she loves it, she sits on it and uses it as a look out for any crickets in the cage, and I have seen her drink from it.

It is powered by an air pump which is very quiet. You have to strain to hear it (I wish fish tanks would make air pumps so quiet). It is super easy to install with only three parts to it. When you first turn it on it will make a raspy sound and you'll think "I'm not putting up with that racket" but after a minute or so it calms down and starts working silently so dont freak out.

The bad points are that the pump has a nervous breakdown everytime it sees dirt. It only has to think it sees dirt and it will stop working. I cant stress enough just how weak it is. When you get this, spend ages giving it a complete clean of any speck of dust, then clean it again, and again...then a...
agreeing with the hassle
After reading the review before mine i agree it can be hassle and it does happen just before ur off to bed, I keep it with my leopard geckos and again they love climbing it drinking it and pooing behind it but the most common problem I come across is that when a spec of calcium dust comes off ur insects and gets into the water U will have to clean it out, as the water gets white n foamy and the pipe to the pump clogs with white gunk. And Tbh ur calcium coated insects are always going to drink from it but I still find it worth it.
Leaks and crickets hide inside it
Got this for my 8 week old chem and he uses it to drink fine the only problam I have with it is that some times after cleaning it out it can pump the water a and the crickets can get inside it very easy so easy that your pet may never actually get to eat them, all in all I would say if your reptile don't eat crickets go for it but if so stay as far as you can from this product

Purchased 2 and wish I hade paid a bit more they have international plugs on so the adaptors you get with them our rubbish and plugs don't stay in had to buy new adaptors.They do the job but very loud . Overall not very good wish would of spent more would not recommend this item

Viacutan Plus Liquid EFA » 95ml Pump

Seems to work
Got this after searching for help for my dog's scratching problem. Has being having it now for some months and seems to be working. Where he made himself bold under the chin and below his front legs with constant scratching the hair has grown back and there is no redness or scratching

REALLY good value compared to the vets and the service was great, but, if you look at what's actually in the can, you can buy generic products such as Evening Primrose Oil a LOT cheaper and they do the same job. If you must have prescribed products, go for this, but if you are happy to go with generic products, try things like EPO, in my opinion. Our Saluki now has EPO on her food and her coat looks magnificent.

Tetra APS150 Air Pump

Tetra Tech APS150 Air Pump- Quiet Quiet Quiet!!
I bought this as a replacement for an Ehiem equivalent which kept blowing the pipe off no matter how hard I jammed it back. Its powering a single air stone in 100 litre tank, purely for decorative purposes!

Its been running for 24hrs and in my experience (kept fish for over 20 years!) its best to let air pumps run for this kind of time before making a decision on if its noisy or not. It gives the diaphragm a chance to warm and soften a bit. They all are noisy when they are first switched on.

It’s pumping the air through admirably and is very very quiet so I am very pleased. Its interesting four legged design does seem to stand up to the blurb on the box and I am very happy with it. As for reliability, who knows but if it packs in I'll update!

Quality Air pump
I had an idea of what to expect as I've owned an APS50 for several years and use it on a smaller tank, however the power of the APS150 was even greater than I had anticipated - its running two filters in a 100 litre tank with ease.

Its a stylish modern design and runs virtually silent! I am using it to replace an old RENA 301 - which made a bit of a racket - and this is a really pleasant change.

Hearty recommendations - at under 20 quid its a real bargain - delivery was speedy.

Fish Mate Pond Pump: 700

Exellent.
Bought this pump to run a waterfall. The water is lifted 11" and flows out of a 5" lip. Filter is easy to clean, it runs very quietly and efficiently (9 Watts).
