Hozelock Pond Air Pump 640: 1805

Pond air pump
Bought to replace an old air pump which was underpowered and had stopped working.
Initial reaction was that it was a well designed piece of kit, easy to install and control air flow.
Unfortunately pump stopped operating after 24hrs and would then only work at maximum output which was too much for the pond.
Using a lower setting was either not possible or if it was it then stopped running after a short while.
Pump returned to supplier who replaced by return (new pump received in three days from sending the old one).
New pump has now been working well for a week with no problems.
Original appears therefore to have been a rogue unit as I have several other Hozelock items which have given excellent service over many years.

Mixed experience
April 2013: Have just got this to replace a previous cheapish two stone pump that only lasted just over a year. It's immediately obvious that this one is much superior build quality and it's so much quieter than the old one. The fact that it's weatherproof (many aren't) is an additional advantage. The air stones it comes with are weedy (c.25mm/1 inch) though and aren't heavy enough to sink with the buoyancy of the plastic air tube. I've immediately replaced them with 50mm ones recently bought in a pack of 6 for

I purchased two of these heaters for my 60 gallon marine tank. Using both of the heaters the water was quickly brought up to the required temperature (set by using a dial located on the top of the heater). Heat in the water is now maintained by the heather switching on and off as required.

Very happy with the units, would have liked a plastic guard of something around the glass to prevent fish touching it, but that would also reflect in the price I am sure.

For a low cost option to aquarium heating, you get great value for money with these heaters as well as a fast delivery from the supplier.

i have a 4ft fish tank and i am never going to need to get another heater again because i have tested this in a 6ft tanks and it heats the whole tank without fail, itb is great value for money and my fih wont get cold at all.

I wanted to give this filter 2 stars, this is because the instructions are waist of time it took me 1hr 30mins or so to figure out what part goes where as I wanted to follow the instructions, who ever wrote these instructions should keep their day job, anyway my friend came over and looked at the instructions and just simply bin it and within 10 mins he put the filter in the aquarium and pumping water, as simple as that, that’s if you do not follow the instructions.
The pump works just perfect as matter of fact it is brilliant, just the instructions that let it down.

Gladwells Pond Pellets 10 kg

Lovely grub
We bought Gladwells pond pellets and pond sticks when we were unable to get to the garden centre for our usual fish food. We mixed the two together and were a bit apprehensive about changing after many years but needn't have worried. Our fish (koi, goldfish and grass carp) love it. Even the magpies like it and are crafty enough to wait for bits to get washed to the pond edge.

I ordered this item it arrived in a flash, I feed my fish (about 40) all last year and will do all this year. They (the fish) seem to like it and eat all I give them at feeding and seem to be thriving , the price it the best, as some garden centers seem to think you have won the lotto with the prices they charge , so when I run out it's a reorder.

It came to that time when I needed to replace the filter foam in my Koi pond filter...locally there just weren't any large enough to do the job properly....I've converted an old wheelie bin ...yes a wheelie bin! into a pond filter with filter gravel, clay medium etc and foam...these do the job perfectly, collecting all the fish waste particles and they're easy to clean too.
I'm happy with them and so my Koi seem to be...decent clear water, well balanced. I'll be ordering more soon as we're constructing another pond this year and yep...we've managed to source another disused wheelie bin !

Hozelock Pond Air Pump 320: 1800

Just right for the job
I bought this as a replacement for two mini pumps that I had coupled together to act as a fish saver in winter when the pond (10ft x 8ft x 2ft, 4500 litres) freezes over. They were barely enough to keep a layer of air under the ice. Then the waterfall pump failed, a major task to replace so I had to increase aeration PDQ and this little beauty does the job very well. It comes with two air-stones and a long length of hose and the fish seem to be content. And so is the lady fishkeeper which is even more important. The pump is adjustable and very quiet (unlike the lady fishkeeper)
GOOD FOR AQUARIUMS TOO ! ! !
I bought this because my rena air 600 recently gave up as they seem to do after 18 months or so, I also wanted to try something that can pump to more depth as my 8 foot tank is just over 2 feet deep and most pumps seem not to like this sort of depth.
I have already tried the Blagdon (far too noisy) so when I saw a recent review on this and the super price on Amazon I decided to PUMP for it !

I can tell you that I am absolutely DELIGHTED with the result !
Not quite as quiet as the Rena air but when you turn it down it is very close and it is SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL !!!

I would recommend this pump without hesitation it is fully pumping 2 2" air stones from the bottom of my tank where I tried an Eheim 400 that could NOT handle them and even the Rena air 600 when good could not match the power OR price of the Hozelock pond air 320!

Cons: you DO have to fit your own power plug so if you are not up to the job it may not be for you.

Iam on my second of these pump, they are very good but not completely water tight. The first one failed after 2 weeks when I looked inside it
there was a lot of rain water, but I like the pump as the supplier had not got another one I got my money back, & ordered one from Amazon (which was cheaper).
This time I have put a cover over the pump to keep the rain off, so far it been OK. The only place I can see that rain may be geeting in is around the ajusting knob.

Tetra Pond Sticks 15 Litre

Excellent Quality - Lasts Ages!
I am not a keen pond person - just have a few goldfish in the pond. However, having had them for 5 years, they are a fair size.

This fish food is just the job. The pellets float on the top so the fish can come to the surface and take them as and when. I tend to feed little and often. In doing so you can also count how many fish you have - and how they are growing!

Due to the size of the packet, this will last me 2/3 years - which is inside the best before date. Price is pretty good as well.

Just recieved this today.

Bigger than i thought and the tubes have a mind of there own as there coiled in transit and take abit to get into position.
When assembled you have to fill the canister 3 quarters with tank water and use the button to prime it (IE force water through the intake pipe to the canister before switching on.
So if you have the canister below the tank your going to have to make sure there are no loops or the water will not be forced through the highest point of the loop.

Also the Nylon balls come loose in a tray=Fine, the ceramic noodle looking things come in a netted bag, so release them and spread on the tray, and the carbon also comes in a netted bag,hopefully i have got this bit right as the instructions say nothing but i have just left them in the netted bag and placed on the tray.

The Unit is VERY quiet and when you have water going through the pipes you cant even tell there is anything passing through, if it was not...

I must say that this filter is great value for money. I keep an 180 litre tank with cichlids in it and this filter keeps my water crystal clear. The water is so clear I could be tempted to drink it (but I dont lol) Well worth investing in if a good clear tank is what your after.

just thought I should leave a review when I saw the 1 star review. had mine up and running now for a good few months in my 240l, no problems so far and for the price a complete steal. very easy to clean. decent flow from the outpipe. as for noise issues I have no problems at all, its in the tank stand cupboard and cannot be heard. 5 stars all the way from me, I'm here because I am buying another one for my nano

I found the product very good at fitering and water circulation.
But just a few modifications would make this an excellent product.
I cut part of the filter body in order to make the flow directional.
The mounting suckers should be on a seperate holder to enable ease of
removal from tank. Two simple changes is all it requires to do this.

It works!
I was very pleasantly surprised how effective the vacuum was. I spent about 2 hours cleaning a load of gunge from my pond. It dealt with the blanket weed with ease and dumped it under the hedge.

The vacuum cycles in 25 second bursts, first it sucks up the muck then the vacuum automatically switches off and the muck is dumped out of the discharge tube, in my case I put it under the hedge. The 'floor' tool blocked up a couple of times with dead leaves, but that is to be expected.

My only concern is the amount of water removed from the pond. If you are only interested in removing the worst gunge from the bottom of the pond you could put the discharge pipe directly back into the pond and only the thickest stuff would remain in the vac tank. But I think you would need to empty the tank every second or third cycle to make this work as the creamier mud is also discharged down the pipe. I am thinking that something like an old pair of tights stretched to make a...
Keep it cool....
I bought this, used it twice very successfully. I then packed it in its original box and stored it in my garden shed. (A regular 8'x8', run-of-the-mill, wooden shed - nothing unusual). It appears summer temperatures in a regular shed are too much for the plastic used in the construction. When I used it again the following spring the pieces were very slightly distorted, so the seal was not airtight. And no vacuum = no suction = a useless lump of plastic.
There's no warning on the box about temperature/dimensional stability and for this much money I'm furious!

The P21 Pond Fish Feeder does work well I have used it over a 14 day period set at 10 (see instructions) for a 11 small new fish and the last feed was being given on day 14, so delighted with the product.

Its worked for me over a couple of weeks when I have been on holiday and found no leaks of water finding its way to the food.

It took a bit of time to setup the amount of feed, I tested it over a bowl as recommended until I got it right. Had to make a fixing over pond and steady it with extra stings as I live in a windy area, the bracket supplied is a bit wobbly and could shake more food through than set.
I found it kept the food dry as it was wet when I was away, and easily keeps the fish fed for a couple of weeks.
This is a good product for the money and have had no problems.

Very pleased with this filter as my pond really needed to be drained and de sludged as the water was filthy. It did take 6 weeks to get the water clean with a daily removal and cleaning of the foam filter pad to remove the sludge. The lower section did not seem to do anything towards the clean up and I feel it needs another foam rubber filter in the top for very dirty ponds. All in all concidering its small size it did a very good job so can recommend it for people like me with a dirty pond water problem.
