FINE so far
Squirrel had a go first night it was in use, tried to unhook it and got the top partly open, but obviously gave up.
Changed the hooking up system and so far it seems OK.
Best for smaller birds - tits, wagtails, nut hatches and even the robin use it - the pigeons have to put up with clearing up any spilt seed etc from the ground - so that's a good point.
It Works!
Grey squirrels have gradually been taking over from the delightful reds in the woodland surrounding my home and now they've discovered my bird feeders. I bought this globe feeder a few weeks ago and after a few days of amusement watching the wee beasties try to break in they've now given up. The small birds love it. It hangs right outside my kitchen window so I can see how easily they come and go from it. In fact within 10 minutes of hanging it up a young great tit went straight in followed shortly by numerous great tits, blue tits and coal tits. Sparrows and chaffinches also have no problem with it. Only the squirrels can't get into it! A sturdy, well built feeder I'd happily recommend to anyone with a pesky squirrel problem.
best seed feeder
this feeder is great. Its sturdy, easy to refill. Squirrels can't get the top off - though they tried.
Squirrels can't get in. Even shaking the feeder not too many seeds fall out.
Finches, Robins and smaller birds delight in it, at times I had 5-7 in the feeder and in the surrounding branches of the
tree more birds have been waiting for their turn.
The seeds stay dry. Fallen seeds are caught on the bottom tray, which squirrels at times try to reach through shaking - a minor annoyance.
The cleaning is easy, though I think for perfection this feeder could be improved by getting an easy to remove mechanism to remove the plastic tube for more thorough cleaning.
Had this product for years- excellent.
