Spacious and strong cage for syrian hamster
I feel size and cage material are most important elements. Savic Cambridge cage scores 5/5 for these.
Size - Excellant space for exploring for hamster who can be really active once awake. However hamster will always find spots for sleeping, eating and loo. Let it do what it wants :)
Material - Strong and sturdy yet light enough to carry if required
Other observations:
Platforms - Yellow and red platforms that give more areas for hamster to explore
Food container - Holds enough food for one or two days only
Ladders Long and Short ones - Reliable
Wheel - It stopped sqeaking after I added oil to the joints. But it became bit small for my syrian male hamster so I replaced it with a Savic medium sized wheel
House - Once he got used to the cage surroundings, he slept and ate at one specific corner, ignoring the house since
Water bottle - It leaked occasionally and kept slipping from the blue fastener, so I added DIY ways to ensure bottle...
Great Medium Sized Hamster Cage!
The shipping was very quick only having to wait several days from the point of order and when it showed up at my door. Packaging wasn't what I would consider adaquate for delicate plastic parts, but most of my cage was intact upon arrival. The only piece of the cage that was broken was a little red "hook" on the red panel that would sit inbetween the bars to hold it in place. Since this hasn't really effected the stability when my hamster sits on it I haven't found it necessary to contact the seller and complain.
The medium size cage is perfect. Any cage smaller than this one is not something I would recommend for Syrians. The food dish is too small for my adult Syrian so buying a solid ceramic/weighted dish is much better. The little home included is too small as well. I removed it and replaced it with a slightly bigger home so he doesn't get stuck. The wheel does squeek so be warned! I have ordered a larger size wheel because Syrians are just a smidge too big for the typical...
great syrain hamster cage
I needed a large cage to house my syrain hamster as I feel that animals shouln't be caged in small confined spaces, and this the bill nicely. Its strong no gapping holes for Rocky (the hamster) to escape from, easily cleaned, two doors to gain entry to the cage from, enough space on the shelfs and on the base to put toys and food dish, more than enough space to put a large wheel. The only downside and its only minor the house is a bit small for a fully grown syrain and the water bottle doesn't attach to the cage properly and leaks but these can purchased from any pet store or supermarkets. Delivery was quick and the cage was already put together.
I would reccommend this cage for anyone who is looking to have a syrain hamster or a group of smaller hamsters e.g. russian dwarfs, winter whites or chinese dwarfs. max. of 4.
