Not as large as it looks, but well built
Bought this for a brand new, male Syrian hamster, because it looked spacious and strong. It provided plenty of room for the first few weeks, but he's totally outgrown it now. That's not necessarily the cage's fault, of course. The bar spacing is very narrow, so it would probably suit dwarf hamsters or mice very well. Because it has a modular connector, it was easy enough to add some more living space for him.
I had to remove the wheel as it was too small and posed a health risk, and the "house" proved unsuitable as a nest site; he now nests in a compartment I've separated off in the bottom section. The food bowl and water bottle are OK. Access through the top can be awkward; during taming it resulted in some nasty bites as I couldn't get my hand away fast enough. A side opening would have been better.
Overall though, I'm still quite happy. It's solidly built and provided a comfortable starter environment for an inquisitive and active rodent, and it's a heck of a...
