Superior to Other Comparable Filters
This filter has several design strengths:
- Very quiet in operation (once all air has been expelled from the system).
- Well designed filter media configuration (there are two coarse filter sponges, and two carbon / poly pad filters, resulting in reduced loss of bacteria if these are replaced one at a time).
- Holds a relatively large amount of biological media compared to other products with the same flow rate.
- Convenient to maintain (the pump is below the filter media chamber).
Far superior to the Interpet PF4.
A good, steady filtration system
As someone who has owned fishtanks (tropical and marine) for most of their adult life, I have tried and tested many types of filters, from the old "undergravel" pump powered systems to the more common external filters. This purchase was to replace an external filter in my 180l tropical setup. I have finally given up on external filters. For their supposed benefits (less clutter in the tank, easier access for servicing etc) I have personally found them unreliable and when they go wrong they really do go wrong (airlock problems and pipe issues)
I chose this item due to it being relatively compact, being a brand in the fish world, and its additional water circulation features. The beauty of an internal filter is in the setup - 10 minutes from reading the instructions through to it being operational and with minimal disruption to the fish. Received this item last week. Installed it immediately and within two days the water was crystal clear. A good experience from a quality product.
